The FPPF is currently conducting a 4-day photography workshop at the Paskuhan Village in San Fernando, Pampanga. The workshop, from October 6 to 9 and organized by the Department of Tourism regional office, DOT Hilaga, is being attended by more than 30 participants from the area.

The photography workshop aims to equip participants with a basic knowledge of photography using point-and-shoot cameras and digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) cameras. It will also expound on composition and elements of design to give them an artistic foundation for their photographs.

The workshop will also include basic lessons in portraiture and posing using studio lights to better appreciate the nuances of correct lighting.

FPPF mentors Chris Malinao, Ador Pamintuan, Prof. Cecilia S. Angeles, Prof. Joey Tañedo and Vic Sison are taking turns in teaching workshop participants their various specialties in digital photography.

Epson’s Unguarded Moment Photo Contest Extended to Oct 28

Epson The Unguarded Moment Photo Contest

Epson Philippines has extended the deadline for “The Unguarded Moment” photo contest to October 28th.

The contest offers P20,000 and an Epson Stylus TX700W multifunction photo printer as Grand Prize, and a chance to represent the country in the international finals to be held in Japan.

Two runners-up will receive P5,000 each plus an Epson Photo R230 printer. The top 17 entries will each get P1,000 consolation.

In the internationals finals, the Grand Prize will be ¥2,000,000 or about P987,000 plus Epson products. Other cash prizes are also at stake.

FPPF Wedding Photography Workshop

The FPPF is launching the Wedding Photography Workshop, designed to hone photographers to effectively cover and document weddings and prepare them as professional wedding photographers. The first Wedding Photography Workshop will be held on November 17-20, 2009 at the FPPF Studio in Intramuros, Manila.

Designed to focus mainly on wedding preparations and ceremonies, the workshop is aimed at aspiring wedding photographers, advanced amateurs, photography studios who do wedding coverages, hobbyists and photography students who want to learn the ropes of wedding photography.

The workshop will be conducted by noted wedding photographer Jomel Gregorio, a wedding photojournalist and artist. Jomel is a professional faculty instructor for A.B Photography at the De La Salle College of Saint Benilde School of Design and Arts. For Jomel Gregorio, wedding image should be simple but should immortalize the true emotions, human interactions and split second details of that special day. To be unique it should be captured with style.

Jomel is joined in the workshop by Joseph Galian, an experienced wedding photographer since 2003 and an instructor for both the FPPF and Saint Benilde. Joe shoots currently for various high end wedding photography studios. He will showcase various styles involved in wedding portraiture, photojournalistic style of wedding coverage.

The Wedding Photography Workshop will also feature wedding photo lectures from FPPF instructors Vic Sison, Ador Pamintuan and graphic artist Frando Culata.

Attend the workshop and:

  1. Learn how to effectively use available light and off camera strobes to do portraiture.
  2. Learn how to adjust your cameras quickly in any given situation for that perfect exposure.
  3. Learn how to develop your own unique style and be rewarded handsomely.

Today’s Workshops Postponed

FLASH ANNOUNCEMENT (Oct 3, 2009): Today’s classes for the Basic & Advanced workshops have been postponed due to the prevailing bad weather brought about by Typhoon Pepeng. Also, last Sunday’s classes for the photography workshops were postponed due to Typhoon Ondoy.

The FPPF board and instructors are meeting today to re-schedule the missed classes, due to force majeure, and will shortly announce the schedules for the make-up classes. Please watch this space for additional announcements.

ANNOUNCEMENT:

Tomorrow’s classes (Oct 4) for the Advanced & Basic workshops will be held as scheduled. There will be regular classes tomorrow, October 4, 2009.

For tomorrow, Oct 4, the Sunday Advanced class will hold their 3rd session. Likewise, the Sunday Basic class will also hold their 3rd session. These two sessions were postponed last Sunday due to Typhoon Ondoy.

On Saturday, Oct 10, the Basic and Advanced classes will hold their 4th sessions; these sessions were postponed today due to Typhoon Pepeng. The affected Basic and Advanced classes will hold their subsequent workshops following the adjusted schedule.

Due to these adjustments, the incoming Advanced workshops which are scheduled to start on Oct 17 Saturday, and Oct 18 Sunday are hereby moved down by one week.

Therefore, the Saturday Oct 17, 24, Nov 7, 14, 21 & 28 schedule has been moved to Oct 24, Nov, 7, 14, 21, 28 & Dec 5. The Sunday Oct 18, 25, Nov 8, 15, 22 & 29 has been moved to Oct 25, Nov 8, 15, 22, 29 & Dec 6.

The incoming schedule for Basic Photography workshops, scheduled to start on Saturday, Oct 17 and Sunday, Oct 18 are not affected.

The adjustments to the schedules have been made due to force majeure. Workshop participants who may not be able to attend a specific session may always sit in for that specific missed session with the other batches.
