Participants from all over the Philippines including Cebu, Iloilo, Baguio, the Bicol region, General Santos City, Davao, Palawan, Butuan City, Pangasinan and Metromanila. Delegates also came from other countries including Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia. PhotoWorld Asia 2010 Formally Opens

PhotoWorld Asia 2010 formally launched Thursday, January 28, at the Glorietta Activity Center, Ayala Malls in Makati with several distinguished guests in attendance including Tourism Director Cynthia Lazo, Sculptor Ramon Orlina and Classical Pianist Ingrid Santamaria. The photography trade show runs until February 2, 2010. Aside from the main exhibits at the Glorietta Activity Center, there is also another venue at Glorietta 5 where photographs of veteran photojournalist Ed Santiago are on display, as well as the winning photographs from various camera clubs who participated in the PhotoWorld Cup photo contests. There are also more trade exhibits there by various suppliers.

PhotoWorld Asia 2010 is here!!!

From January 28 to February 2, 2010 the Glorietta venues at the Ayala Center in Makati will be beehives of activities in the weeklong photo trade show, the largest photography trade exposition in the Philippines today.

Exhibitors from major camera manufacturers – Canon, Nikon, Olympus, Fujifilm, Pentax, Sony, etc. – and photographic suppliers will display their latest products in the various exhibition booths of PhotoWorld Asia 2010.

The trade exhibits will be seen at the main Glorietta Activity Center and at Glorietta 5. This year’s theme is “Philippine Photography in Changing Times.”

Antiquarian photographs depicting historic episodes in the Philippines in the early 19th and 20th centuries will be on display at the Art Space, 3rd Floor of the Glorietta. The Art Space exhibit will also feature a rare collection of vintage cameras and imaging devices from the personal collection of Mr. Manny Inumerable, this year’s Chairman of PhotoWorld Asia.

The trade and antiquarian exhibits are open to the public for the whole duration of PhotoWorld Asia 2010.

A separate series of educational seminars are also scheduled at the ACCM, the Asian Institute of Management Conference Center Makati along Trasierra cor. Benavidez Streets, where master photographers from the Philippines, United States, Singapore and Indonesia will share their expertise and photographic techniques with seminar participants. Headline speakers are US photographer Kevin Ames and sensational Filipino photographer Manny Librodo.

Capping the PhotoWorld activities will be a fashion and glamour photo shoot on February 2 in the Heritage town of Taal in Batangas province, outside of Manila.

Raymond Isaac with TV celebrity Phoemela BarandaTop fashion photographers Raymond Isaac of the Philippines and Kevin Ames of the United States will demonstrate their techniques during the hands on photo shoot. The photo shoot will be done in two old houses in Taal – the Villavicencio and Agoncillo ancestral homes – and will feature several professional fashion models.

There will be three shooting setups in the Taal Fashion Shoot: Traditional, Modern and Fine Art.

The Taal Fashion Shoot will have a limited number of participants. Those interested to join are advised to register early, to avoid overcrowding. Please register HERE.

The workshop fee of P5,000 for PWA 2010 delegates and P6,000 for non-delegates will cover the costs of transportation to and from Taal via air-conditioned buses, meals for participants and guests, fees for models and make-up artists and other incidental expenses.

FPPF Goes to Guimaras

The island of Guimaras was part of the FPPF itinerary to explore the Bacolod-Guimaras-Iloilo area for possible photo destinations for the ASEAN Crossing Bridges program. The FPPF earlier held a one-day seminar in Bacolod and later hooked up with the Photographic Society of Iloilo for the 2010 Dinagyang Festival.

FPPF Project Director Lito Beltran introduces seminar participants to the one-day Photography Today seminar at the Negros Museum in Bacolod City.

The FPPF held a one-day seminar, “Photography Today,” at the Negros Museum in Bacolod City, January 21, 2010. The seminar was arranged by the Camera Club of Negros, headed by Tonet Abong and Billy Lopue, president and treasurer, respectively of CCN.

The seminar covered photography and camera basics, art history, composition, elements of design and introduction to the digital imaging workflow. The FPPF also presented the travel photos of multi-awarded travel photographer George Cabig.

The FPPF team included Chairperson Eduviges Y. Huang, Project Director Lito Beltran, Joey Tañedo, George Cabig, Chris Malinao and Maria Macabio.
