Calamba Basic Photography Workshop Starts Sep 19

FPPF instructor Ador Pamintuan instructs participants on DSLR camera operation during the first day of the basic workshop.

The FPPF is holding Basic Photography Workshop in Calamba, Laguna for five Sundays on September 19, 26, October 3, 10 & 17, 2010. Venue is the Elementary Bldg. of St. John Colleges in Calamba. FPPF instructors from Manila will be in Calamba to conduct the workshop.

The basic workshop will cover DSLR camera operation and handling as well as understanding ISO, aperture and shutter speed and how they relate to correct exposure. The participants will also be taught how to master depth of field, understand how the camera meters, as well as foundation lessons on composition, elements of design, lighting theory and practice and a comprehensive introduction to the digital imaging workflow. The lessons will be full of hands-on exercises using the DSLR camera. The lighting session will simulate studio photography, complete with studio strobes, for the participants to have an in-depth understanding of lighting principles.

Basic Workshop in Baguio City Starts September 24

Kameraworx and the Federation of Philippine Photographers Foundation, Inc. FPPF) will hold the FPPF Baguio Photography Workshop on September 24, 25, 26, and 27, 2010 at the Hotel Henrico located in Legarda Road, Baguio City.

The Baguio Basic Photography workshop will cover topics that include digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) camera operation, composition, elements of design and basic photographic lighting – using studio strobes and available light. FPPF photography instructors from Manila will be in Baguio city to conduct the workshop.

FPPF to Conduct Cebu Basic Photography Workshop (CPW8) Oct 22-24

The FPPF will hold Cebu Photography Workshop 8 (CPW8) on October 22-24, 2010 at the Sacred Heart Center in Cebu City. CPW8 is Basic Photography workshop covering topics that include digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) camera operation, composition, elements of design and basic photographic lighting – using studio strobes and available light.

Venue for CPW8 is the Sacred Heart Center along D. Jakosalem St. in Cebu City. The workshop fee of P5,750 includes meals for the 3-day event. FPPF photography instructors from Manila are flying in to Cebu for the workshop.

Next Bulacan Basic Workshop Starts September 4

The next Basic Photography workshop in Bulacan will be held on September 4, 11, 18, 25 & October 2, 2010, Saturdays, at the St. Agatha Hotel in Guiguinto, Bulacan.

The workshop will cover basic camera operation, camera settings for proper exposure, composition, elements of design, basic studio lighting and portraiture, table top lighting for product shoots and flash photography. There will be critique sessions after the daily hands-on shoots and prizes will be awarded to the best shots. FPPF instructors from Manila will conduct the workshop.

PhotoWorld Asia 2011 Chairperson Betty Lalana of Nayon Camera Club invites the class of Batch 21 to the annual photography trade show. In her talk, Betty announced the names of personalities in the world of photography and digital imaging who have confirmed participation in PhotoWorld Asia 2011: Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom expert Julieanne Kost, US wedding photographer Greg Gibson and Canadian travel photographer Stuart Dee. Also sharing their expertise at PWAsia 2011 are Singapore-based Filipino photographer and travel writer Lester Ledesma, Malaysian photographer Ted Adnan, book publisher Manny Duldulao and travel photographer Bobby Wong. PhotoWorld Asia 2011 will be held at the Asian Institute of Management in Makati on January 27 to February 2.

Workshop participants view their work prior to the final critique and judging session. The class voted for their best photos: the portrait by Marilen Martinez and the still life photo by Jameson Miralles were adjudged class favorites.

Rolin Migyuel Obina (inset), an executive of Sterling Bank of Asia, energized his classmates by announcing the ‘official’ name of their batch – Nurture and Torture – following the nurturing and torturing critique by the judges. Everybody said they had fun in the workshop.

The class of Batch 10 Weekdays got an extended lesson on how to shoot glass with FPPF mentor Dennis Araneta who demonstrated the effective use of a light tent and reflectors to achieve a perfect glass shot. Behind the light tent is the Photo Box, a new lighting device made up of an array of LED lights.

FPPF Holds First Davao City Basic Workshop in August

For the first time, the FPPF will go to Davao City to hold its first-ever workshop in Mindanao. Workshop dates are August 27, 28, 29 & 30. Venue will be the D’Leonor Hotel, JP Laurel Ave., Bajada, Davao City. Workshop fee is P5,750.

The 4-day workshop, from Friday to Monday, will be for Basic Photography. It will cover digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) camera operation, composition, elements of design and basic photographic lighting – using studio strobes and available light. FPPF instructors from Manila will fly in to Davao for the workshop.
