PhotoWorld Asia 2011 Chairperson Betty Lalana of Nayon Camera Club invites the class of Batch 21 to the annual photography trade show. In her talk, Betty announced the names of personalities in the world of photography and digital imaging who have confirmed participation in PhotoWorld Asia 2011: Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom expert Julieanne Kost, US wedding photographer Greg Gibson and Canadian travel photographer Stuart Dee. Also sharing their expertise at PWAsia 2011 are Singapore-based Filipino photographer and travel writer Lester Ledesma, Malaysian photographer Ted Adnan, book publisher Manny Duldulao and travel photographer Bobby Wong. PhotoWorld Asia 2011 will be held at the Asian Institute of Management in Makati on January 27 to February 2.

Workshop participants view their work prior to the final critique and judging session. The class voted for their best photos: the portrait by Marilen Martinez and the still life photo by Jameson Miralles were adjudged class favorites.

Rolin Migyuel Obina (inset), an executive of Sterling Bank of Asia, energized his classmates by announcing the ‘official’ name of their batch – Nurture and Torture – following the nurturing and torturing critique by the judges. Everybody said they had fun in the workshop.

Jester Magsino raises both hands in victory, winning First Place in the Portrait Category, as Ariel del Rosario receives his own 2nd Place trophy from Prof. Rey Castañeda. With his back to the camera is Prof. Lito de Guzman, vice dean of the UE Caloocan College of Fine Arts, who’s back after a period of absence.

FPPF mentor Ador Pamintuan cheers after awarding the First Place medal, Still Life category, to Kathleene Pangilinan during the final day of the weekday workshop. Partly hidden is Aubrey Tiosen who placed 3rd in Still Life, and also placed First in portrait.

The class of Batch 10 Weekdays got an extended lesson on how to shoot glass with FPPF mentor Dennis Araneta who demonstrated the effective use of a light tent and reflectors to achieve a perfect glass shot. Behind the light tent is the Photo Box, a new lighting device made up of an array of LED lights.
