The FPPF is opening an extra class for the Advanced Photography Workshop scheduled for December 14-18, 2009, Monday to Friday, to accommodate the requests of some Basic workshop participants who would not be able to take the regular advanced class slated for next year.

The 5-day special class will cover the complete course content of the regular Advanced Photography Workshop.

An Advanced Photography class in action. The FPPF is offering weekday sessions for Advanced Photography on September 28, 29, 30, Oct 1 and 2, 2009 to accommodate a growing number of requests.

The FPPF is offering weekday sessions, Monday to Friday, for Advanced Photography on September 28 to October 2, 2009. The weekday workshop is for those who are coming from the provinces, balikbayans, tourists, professional photographers, graduates of basic photo workshops and others who may not have the time to attend our regular weekend sessions.

The module for Advanced Photography is also offered to institutions that may choose their corporate offices as venue for the workshop, with no additional charge within Metromanila.

The course content for the special weekday sessions for Advanced Photography is as follows:

Day 1 – Morning: Theory of light. Light sources: one light, two lights, three lights, use of light modifiers, lighting ratio, modelling light and what it does for portrait use of mirrors and light modifiers like gobo, mirrors, cardboards, etc. How to light still life and portrait. For still life fruits demo; for portraits, participants as models.

Afternoon: Food photography with actual shoot of (select 2) sinigang, or fried chicken/pizza pie. (Two-light set ups only).

Day 2 – Fashion/glamour photography, available light shooting and studio lighting with 1 or 2 models

Day 3 – Wedding photography, how to shoot a bride, with available light in Fort Santiago and studio lighting inside chamber

Day 4 – Morning: Location shoot – Manila Zoo. Afternoon: downloading of images for critique and selection for photo essay presentation max 7 (5 x 7) photos

Day 5 – Presentation and evaluation of portfolio which shall consist of photos of food, wedding, glamour/fashion and photo essay on location shoot.

Awarding of certificates and a short program.
End of workshop.

Workshop fee is P5,000 for 5 full-day sessions; minimum of 8, maximum of 20 participants.

Tom Balete won top honors at the graduation last Sunday of the July-August batch, Batch 6, of the Advanced Photography Workshop of the FPPF. He is shown here being congratulated by professional photographer and Advanced instructor Vic Sison, right.

Tom Balete won First Place Overall in the Advanced Photography Workshop conducted July 5 to August 2 by the FPPF. He garnered the highest overall score in a class of 32. The scores were tallied from 3 categories in the photo competitions: Bridal Portraiture, High Key/Low Key Photography and Still Life Photography. Tom earlier aced his Basic class by also winning First Place in the still life category.

The 5-day Advanced workshop further honed the photographers’ skills in studio and outdoor shoots and placed more emphasis on portraiture and glamour shots, as well as in product photography.

Celebrity commercial model Patricia Fernandez engages a group of participants in the Advance Photography Workshop. Their smiles say it all.

The FPPF Advanced Photography workshop had a real treat Sunday when top commercial model Patricia Fernandez dropped by for their fashion photo shoot in the studio. Miss Fernandez was modeling dresses by Deseo, a Philippine clothing and designing firm.

The Advanced photography class regularly features professional models for their fashion photo sessions as well as in bridal portraiture. Once in a while, celebrity models do come in for the shoots.

Last Sunday’s fashion shoot for the Advanced Photography class also featured model Catherine Saw. The Advanced photo workshop is held regularly for 5 weekends at the FPPF studio in Intramuros, Manila. The classes are handled by veteran professional photographers Vic Sison and Rod Banzon.

The Advanced Photography Workshop, Class of February-March 2009, concluded their seminar last Sunday, March 8, 2009 after completing a 5-day course. As part of the requirements for completion, the participants were tasked to submit photos from their exercises in Bridal Portraiture, Still Life with Glass as theme, and Photo Essay. The photos in each category were judged and scored by a panel of judges composed of FPPF faculty members and prize-winning photographers. Winners were declared in each category and awarded trophies and medals. The Overall Winners were also determined by tallying all scores, and the top 5 were also given trophies and medals.

The Overall Winners:

1. 1st Place – Sheryl Ann Viñas who also placed 3rd in Still Life, 2nd in Bridal Portraitue and 5th in Photo Essay
2. 2nd Place – Jerry Go who also placed 1st in Still Life
3. 3rd Place – Leo Angelo Francisco who also got 1st place in Photo Essay
4. 4th Place – Carlo Bajandi, also 2nd in Still Life and 2nd in Photo Essay
5. 5th Place – Mary Joy R. Lazaro, also 4th in Bridal Portraiture
