The “Intramuros is Forever” National Photo Contest now has more than 1,500 registered participants, exceeding the expectations of organizers. Jointly hosted by the Intramuros Administration (IA) and the Federation of Philippine Photographers Foundation (FPPF) the photo contest now has 1,502 registered participants (as of today, March 12, 2010).

“This is an overwhelming response to our call for entries to the contest,” notes FPPF Project Director Lito Beltran. “We haven’t had a contest this big!” Which means it’s a good thing and the FPPF is happy with the response.

“Intramuros is Forever” is a national photo contest to promote the historical and cultural significance of the Walled City. It is also in celebration of the National Heritage Month in May 2010. The contest seeks entries that contain scenes that depict Intramuros landmarks, in whole or in part. The photos must contain something to suggest the image was taken inside Intramuros. The subject can be people, landscape, ruins – practically anything about Intramuros.

The competition will award the following prizes:

 1. P25,000 – First Prize
2. P15,000 – Second Prize
3. P10,000 – Third Prize

The Top 5 entries will receive trophies and medals. Prizes in kind will also be awarded to winners in the 4th to 10th Places.

The photo contest is open to everybody, amateur and professional photographers. Registration is still open.

Participants are required to register at the FPPF offices. Please go to Room 302-Annex, FEMII Bldg., A. Soriano St., Intramuros, Manila for registration. Flash an ID, write down your name and contact number and you’re in. You will be given an ID that says “Photographer” with your name and picture on it, so please bring a 1”x1” ID picture when you come.

Entries must be 8” x 10” prints in color, limiting the borders – if any – to 1 inch all around. Digital photo manipulation is not allowed. You can’t clone, use layers, saturate/desaturate, or any or those fancy Photoshop or Lightroom techniques. Only Dodge, Burn or Crop are allowed. Levels and Curves are not allowed, says Mr. Beltran.

Deadline for submission of entries is on March 28, 2010. Awarding of prizes will be on April 30, 2010.

You may submit your entries personally or by courier. When you submit entries personally, a label will be attached at the back of your photograph indicating your name, date the photo was taken, entry number, title, contact number and your signature.

If your wish to submit your entries by courier please download the labels from the link below, fill them up and attach a label (which now serves as your entry form) to the back of your photograph, leaving the space for entry number blank. Be sure to write and sign your name and leave a contact number.
