Jesse M. Narrazo of the Camera Club of Negros bested all entries to the May 2010 PhotoWorld Cup photo competition of the FPPF with this dramatic image of a mother and child behind festival masks. CCN is a recent addition to the growing membership in the FPPF’s roster of affiliated photography clubs.

Here are the winners of PhotoWorld Cup May 2010, with theme: “Standing Out From The Crowd”

1st Place: Jesse M. Narrazo – CCN
2nd Place: Joy Ganaden – Alpha Camera Club
3rd Place: Lemuel Ragasa – SLR
4th Place: Cris Cleofas – Alpha Camera Club
5th Place: Edwin Lim – Nayon
6th Place: Nick Olayao – Framed Shots
7th Place: Ely Perez – Alpha Camera Club
8th Place: Bhong Bernal – Exposure
9th Place: Arlene Pasaol Donaire – AACC
10th Place: Lino Almuenda – Exposure

All winning photos are now viewable in the Gallery.

Arlene Pasaol Donaire, whose photo above won 9th Place, is a new entrant to the FPPF PhotoWorld Cup competition. A product of the FPPF Cebu photography workshops this year, Arlene joined the FPPF-affiliated Ayala Alabang Camera Club just recently.

Arlene wrote on her Facebook blog:

“The day I ’stood out from the crowd’ felt good.

I have just placed 9th in a national photo contest that draws entries from among the camera clubs of Metro Manila and other parts of the country.

No big deal one might say, it’s just 9th place in the “top ten list”. It’s okay and I admit it’s really not a major award. But then again, it’s a good bump in my otherwise quiet year so far. What it has done for me is inspire me to improve more and more.

I started my photography hobby in late 2008, to fulfill my desire to end that memorable year with a new drive and passion for life. Photography has since opened my eyes to the more sublime beauty beneath the humdrum of daily sights and events. Life is good, every moment of it…no matter what. God’s canvass is everywhere and in everything.

This was my winning entry, shot during the 2010 Sinulog. The crowd that gathered that Sunday in January came from all walks of life and their faces depict the plethora of emotions evoked by the grandeur of the sinulog street dancing. The little girl, in my eye, was more eye catching than the dancers on the streets. Check out my albums for my 2010 sinulog pictures too.”
