PhotoWorld Asia 2010 reels off on January 28, 2010 at the Glorietta, Ayala Center in Makati!

PhotoWorld Asia 2010 will have four separate venues:

  1. The ACCM, AIM Conference Center Makati, for the seminars and workshops.
  2. The Glorietta Activity Center as main exhibition area for the photography industry trade show.
  3. The Art Space, 3rd Floor at Glorietta 4 for the collection of antiquarian photographs and vintage cameras.
  4. The Glorietta 5 for more trade exhibitions.

 

On Thursday, January 28, 2010, there will be three formal openings:

  1. 3:00 pm for the trade exhibits at Glorietta 5;
  2. 4:30 pm at the Art Space, 3rd floor, Glorietta 4 for the exhibits of old photographs and vintage camera collections;
  3. 6:00 pm at the Glorietta Activity Center for the ribbon cutting followed by booth visitations.

 

Tourism Director Cynthia Lazo, Sculptor Ramon Orlina and Pianist Ingrid Santamaria have been invited to grace the opening of PhotoWorld Asia 2010. The trade show, which is open to the public for free, will run until February 2, 2010.

The educational series – workshops and seminars by master photographers – will be held at the ACCM, Asian Institute of Management Conference Center in Makati from January 29 to February 1, 2010. It will feature world renowned photographers Manny Librodo and Kevin Ames as headline speakers, with the special participation of top fashion photographer Raymond Isaac during the hands on shoot in Taal, Batangas.

Other speakers include John Silva who will lecture on 19th and early 20th century Philippine photographs, Isa Lorenzo on Black & White photography, Hugo Yonzon III on harnessing the creative energy, Bernie Ledesma on strobist techniques, John Tronco on wedding photography, Raul Echivarre on the Zen of photography, Jason Magbanua on videography, Indonesian Kristupa Saragih on travel photography and Singaporean Eddie Ng on bridging photo communities.

A separate event in Taal, Batangas will feature a fashion shoot, with top professional photographer Raymond Isaac and US photographer and PhotoWorld Asia speaker Kevin Ames. The photo shoot will be done in two old houses in Taal – the Villavicencio and Agoncillo ancestral homes – and will feature several professional models for the Traditional, Modern and Fine Art setups. The shoots will be done outdoors and indoors.

Fee for the Taal photo shoot is P5,000 for PWA 2010 delegates and P6,000 for non-delegates. The fee will be used to defray expenses for the air-conditioned transport buses, breakfast, lunch and merienda during the shoot and to pay for the makeup artists and fashion stylists who will attend to the models.

Those who wish to join the Taal photo shoot may register here. Meeting place will be at the Comfoods carpark along Buendia Ave., corner Pasong Tamo St. in Makati at 6:00 am sharp. It will be a two-hour trip to picturesque Taal, Batangas.

Kevin Ames

 

US Photographer Kevin AmesKevin Ames is a master photographer famous for his portraits, and a prolific author of books on digital photography. His books include The Digital Photographer’s Notebook, Digital SLR Photography with Photoshop for Dummies and The Art of Photographing Women.

Kevin is a highly sought-after trainer for both the photographic and the digital arts. His assignments, workshops, and seminars have taken him to art schools and conferences around the world: Fotographia Orvieto in Orvieto, Italy; Arthouse in Dublin; the Commercial and Industrial Photographers of New England conference in Boston and recently, The Art of Photographing Women in Iceland, August 2 – 9, 2009.

A professional photographer for over 30 years, Kevin is president of Ames Photographic Illustration, Inc., a studio that specializes in commercial photography, retouching, and post-production services. Based in Atlanta, Kevin’s clients include Westin Hotels, AT&T, and Coca-Cola.

Manny Librodo is the sensational Filipino photographer who has enthralled the world photographic community with his stunning portraits. Starting at the PBase photo-sharing community, which he still maintains to this day, Manny’s fame has spread far and wide. He has conducted photography master classes not only in Bangkok, where he is based, but also in Indonesia, Vietnam, Bhutan, Egypt, Canada, India, The Netherlands and of course, the Philippines.

The trade show for PhotoWorld Asia 2010 will be open to the public for free. You can view the latest cameras, gadgets and other photographic equipment at the various booths and stalls of the participating exhibitors. The trade show will also feature an exhibition of vintage cameras and a display of iconic images that chronicle various historical moments.

Theme for this year’s PhotoWorld Asia 2010 is “Philippine Photography in Changing Times.”

Registration is required for the educational series, where the featured speakers will share their expertise, tips and techniques with delegates. There’s a one-time fee of P5,000 for the whole duration of the educational series, from Jan 29 – Feb 1. Early bird registration is P4,000 until November 30; P4,500 if you pay from December 1 to January 27, and P5,000 on the day of the opening itself.
